On the 19th of January there was
a students exchange program. Our school took part of it and we hosted Italians.
They came from Saluzzo. The exchange students stayed with our students and
teachers. I took care of an Italian named Alessandro Mandrile.
They arrived on Thursday and we
picked them up at the Kanepi bus stop. Alessandro stepped out of the bus and I
introduced myself and a boy named Kevin who’s place Alessandro was going to
stay at. When we arrived at Kevin’s place I introduced everybody and we had
dinner. We talked a bit and I left him at Kevin’s.
On Friday all the Italians were
with us at our school. They had their own program and they were with their
hosts in one lesson. After lessons there was a basketball tournament between us
Estonians and them Italians. Unfortunately for us they won. After the
tournament Italians had a little bit of free time and then there was a big
party at Kanepi’s culture house and the program consisted of various activities
and music. It was a great party.
Next day I picked up Alessandro
from Kevin’s place and we went to school, where we could see snakes and there
was also a presentation about Estonian Defence Force. After the presentation
all the Italians and almost every Estonian host went on a trip to Haanja where
we could see Suur Munamägi which is the highest peak of Estonia. Then we went
an a hike with snow shoes and after the hike we had food and tea. After those
events we started moving towards Kanepi and everybody went with their hosts. My
Italian went to a party which was at Demi’s house and I went to another party
where there were also some Italians.
On Sunday I introduced my brother
to Alessandro and we went driving. Firstly we went to a local village and over
there we went on a frozen lake. My brother’s friends were there with a dirt
bike and we rode with the bike on the ice. I felt a little bit quilty because
there were fisherman also on the lake and I think they were angry with us.
After the riding we headed to Tartu and over there we went to our famous
science center called AHHAA. Over there we met up with Mari-Liis and Angela and
their Italians and I stayed with them. After the AHHAA we all went to McDonald’s
and we ate burgers. After the burgers we were all full of food and decided to go to jumping on trampolines. We jumped about an hour and the Italians liked it. When we were finished, my brother picked me and Alessandro up and we drove to Kanepi and over there we met with Kaarel and Federico. The four of us had sauna and dinner. After dinner I sent Alessandro home.
Monday was schoolday and the lesson was Maths. The Italians were very smart in that lesson. After lesson all the Italians and their hosts went to Tartu where we visited Physics centre and we did some interesting things there. After that we drove to a big shopping centre called Lõunakeskus and the Italians went shopping. They liked shopping and then we set course towards Kanepi where some Italians and Estonians decided to have food at local bar. After the meal we went to Demi's place and everybody had great time.
Tuesday morning it was time to say goodbye to Italians. Some were sad and some were happy. But in the end, I think everybody had great time. I know I had great time.
