Students’
exchange with Italy
by Hanna Rahel Slungin
I took part in this
year’s students’ exchange. I got to host a super nice Italian girl whose name
is Veronica. She arrived on the Thursday evening just like all the others.
Instantly we started talking about everything you can imagine and we got along
very well.
The first full day
with Italians was Friday. In the Friday morning me and Veronica got up at 7
o’clock to prepare to go to school. At school we didn’t see each other too
much, because Italians were doing their own things. They went on a tour around
the school, had a computer lesson and even visited the Kanepi parish goverment
building. Although, we still had one Estonian lesson together where we showed
different presentations and solved two crosswords about Estonia and Italy.
Later in the day we also had a basketball match between Italians and Estonians
which the Italians won.
Later in the evening
we went to a party where Estonian language, culture and so much more was shown
us. We tried some tongue twisters, we danced, singed and had a really good
time.
On Sunday morning we
woke up at 9 o’clock and got ready to go to Tartu with Kadri and Marta. They
picked us up a little bit after 10 o’clock and we drove to Tartu. The first
place we went to was Ahhaa science museum. It was really fun and we had a great
time. I hadn’t ever been there before either so it was just as interesting to
me as to the Italians. After spending couple hours in Ahhaa we went to a small
restaurant called Ylicool. It was really fancy and the food was really good.
We spent the second
half of the day solving a Escape Room game. We chose to go to the Sherlock’s
room. It wasn’t too hard of a puzzle to solve, but definitely not a really easy
one either as we needed couple hints during the game. In the end we finished
the game and I think we actually did very well.
At the end of the day
we were really tired, but there’s no doubt that we had a lot of fun. Veronica
said that it was the best day so far of the students’ exchange and i totally
agree with her. It really was a great day.
